She underwent open right femoral hernia repair under general anaesthesia. A right groin incision was performed. A thickened, oedematous sac containing necrotic fat was found. The fat was unable to be extricated to inspect the bowel. Therefore, a lower midline laparotomy incision was performed. The hernia was reduced internally.
